Extending an event after it's finished

  • Updated

This guide explains how to extend your event after the official end time in case you need a few minutes more to wrap things up.

Extending an event by 15 minutes

Once your event reaches its set end time (configured in Event Dashboard > Setup > Basics), there is a 10 minutes "closed door" period allowing you to wrap things up before the post-event survey is displayed (if enabled) and everyone is directed away from the event.

Halfway through these 10 minutes (5 minutes after your event has officially "ended"), you will receive a notification asking if you would like to extend your event:

  • Click Extend by 15m to extend your event for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Click Don't extend if you don't require any additional time.
Note: You can only choose to extend your event for 15 minutes or dismiss the notification. You cannot specify a different duration. You cannot extend the same event more than once.

Attendee experience

All organizers inside the event will see the notification, and any organizer can choose to extend the event. If you choose to extend the event, other admins will see a notification indicating the event has been extended, and by whom.

Tip: Attendees will not see this notification, but if you would like to let them know that the event has been extended, you can always send an announcement.

Once the 15 minutes are up, everyone inside the event will be sent the post-event survey (if enabled) and directed away from the event.

Example:
  • Event end time = 12:00
  • Closed doors end time = 12:10
  • Extend event = +15 minutes
  • New event end time + post-event survey = 12:25
