Integrating 3Play Media with RingCentral Events

This guide explains how to install the 3Play Media app on your Organization account and add it to your event for real-time captioning and translation.

What is 3Play Media?

3Play Media a media accessibility platform providing closed captioning, audio description, and subtitling services. You need a paid license to use 3Play Media. Refer to the 3Play Media website to get a quote. 

How does the integration work?

3Play Media can be embedded into the activity panel of a Stage or a Session, allowing attendees to follow along with captions that appear in real time.

Installing 3Play Media

To install the 3Play Media app on your Organization account: 

  1. In your Organization Dashboard, go to the Apps tab.
  2. Click Discover More on App Store.
  3. In the App store, you can find 3Play Media under the Translation category.
  4. On the 3Play Media page, click Install app.
    ✔  You'll be prompted to confirm your choice. Click Install to continue.

Adding 3Play Media to your event

  • In a multi-track event, 3Play Media can be added to each Stage and Session individually.

    1. In the Event Dashboard, navigate to the selected Stage or Session settings.
    2. Scroll down to the Apps section.
    3. Under 3Play Media, select the Enabled check box.
    4. Enter the tab name (e.g. it can be Translation or anything else).
    5. Enter the Public ID and Stream Start ID.
      Note: Your Public ID and Stream Start ID can be copied from the External Webpage with captions URL. Here what the URL will look like:
      https://p3.3playmedia.com/live-asr-client/external_webpage_with_captions.html?key=[Public_ID]&stream_start=[Stream_startID]&caption_polling_latency=0&show_complete_transcript=true&container_height=0&use_uppercase=0 
    6. Once ready, click Save.

  • In a Webinar event, there is a single activity panel due to the singular virtual space, either Stage or Session. To add 3Play Media to your Webinar event:

    1. Go to Event Dashboard > Setup > Basics. 
    2. Scroll down to the Apps section.
    3. Toggle 3Play Media on.
    4. Enter the tab name (e.g. it can be Translation or anything else).
    5. Enter the Public ID and Stream Start ID.
      Note: Your Public ID and Stream Start ID can be copied from the External Webpage with captions URL. Here what the URL will look like:
      https://p3.3playmedia.com/live-asr-client/external_webpage_with_captions.html?key=[Public_ID]&stream_start=[Stream_startID]&caption_polling_latency=0&show_complete_transcript=true&container_height=0&use_uppercase=0 
    6. Once ready, click Save.

Disconnecting 3Play Media

To remove the 3Play Media integration from the event, navigate to the associated event area settings in the Event Dashboard and unselect the Enabled check box next to the app.

Alternatively, go to the Apps tab in your Organization Dashboard to uninstall the 3Play Media integration for the whole Organization.
