RingCentral Events provides automatic captions for Stages, Sessions, Expo, Networking and Replay segments. This guide explains how to use captions in Sessions, Expo Booths and Networking meetings.
Important: Captions are only available on a desktop device and when using Chrome.
To turn on captions in a Session room, an Expo Booth (set up as a Session) or in a Networking meeting, click the CC button at the bottom of the screen or press C.
As a result, the video display will become smaller, showing captions underneath. To turn off closed captions, click the CC button or press C again to return the video to full view.
Will captions be recorded?
Unfortunately, the captions will not be recorded. However, you can enable captions in the Replay area: Using Closed Captions in Replay.
What languages are closed captions available in?
At the moment, closed captions will only work in English (American, British, and Canadian).
Are closed captions always available within Sessions?
At this time, closed captions are not available when streaming with RTMP or when sharing a YouTube video.
Why are the closed captions not in sync?
If the captions seem to be out of sync, or perhaps aren't showing the right words, it could be for several reasons:
- Your internet connection is unstable.
- A different language is being spoken.
- AI-generated captions are not always completely accurate so there may always be some errors.
Known limitations of Closed Captions within Sessions, Expo Booths and Networking
There are several limitations of Closed Captions when using them in the mentioned areas:
- Not available in Firefox or Safari
- Not available on the RingCentral Events Attendee app
- Captions will only work in English (American, British, and Canadian)
- Closed captions are not available for content that is being RTMP streamed into a Session room.
