Mirroring an RTMP stream from another Session or Stage into a Session

  • Updated

On RingCentral Events, you can mirror or duplicate an ongoing Stage/Session RTMP stream to another Session, which is particularly useful for providing live interpretation or managing overflow when the main Session reaches capacity. This guide explains how to set up RTMP mirroring in a Session.

Important notes:

When RTMP is not live, a Session functions as an interactive room according to its settings. Once RTMP is live:

  • The RTMP stream will not be viewable on the mobile app or on mobile browsers; it is only accessible via desktop browsers.
  • Screen sharing, Miro, Figma, YouTube, and other engagement features are disabled.
  • Closed Captions are not available for RTMP-streamed content.
  • The RTMP stream can only be stopped from the broadcast software, not from within the session itself.
  • RTMP cannot be used in Expo Sessions.

To set up RTMP mirroring in a Session:

  1. Ensure you already have the RTMP stream set up on the Stage or main Session.
  2. Go to Event Dashboard > Venue > Sessions. Click Add Session to create a new session or hover over a listing and click the Pencil icon to edit an existing Session.

  3. Under RTMP settings, select the Enable RTMP Streaming checkbox. Next, select Stage or Session and then the name of the Stage or Session you want to mirror.

  4. Click Save.
✔ The RTMP stream on the Stage/Session will be mirrored into the other Session. Attendees may need to refresh the Session to see the changes if this is done live.
