Receiving a Magic Link invitation

  • Updated

The event host can send you a Magic Link invitation so you can register for the event without purchasing a ticket. This option is commonly used for inviting speakers, moderators, exhibitors, or internal team members. This guide explains how Magic Links work and how to accept or decline the Magic Link invite.

How Magic Links work

The Magic Link acts as a "registration pass". Clicking on it automatically registers you for a specific event. If you do not have an existing RingCentral Events user account yet, it also creates an account for you.

Note: You will also have an option to decline the Magic Link invite not to register for the event.

The Magic Link also acts as an "access pass" to the event. It bypasses the need for the registered users to sign in to RingCentral Events and brings you directly into your RingCentral Events account and into the event. It also bypassed SSO authentication if configured for the event.

Note: When accessing the event via Magic Link, your Profile Dashboard won't be available. If you need to change your email address or password, delete your user account, or access other events you have registered to, you will need to sign in with an email and password at https://events.ringcentral.com/sign_in.

No two magic links are the same. Each is unique for every attendee at every event.

Note: Anyone with the link could impersonate its owner inside the event it is sent from. Don't share your personalized Magic Link with anyone else.

Accepting a Magic Link invitation

If you have an existing RingCentral Events user account, you will receive an email prompting you to Login & Join Event. If you do not already have a user account, you will receive an email to Verify Registration to proceed. When accepting the invite, you will additionally receive the Order Confirmation email. All emails will contain your personalized Magic Link allowing you to register and access the event.

Here is how the default Magic Link Invite emails look like (if not customized by the Organizer):

If you don't have a user account, you will be also prompted to agree to the platform terms and conditions first. Click Continue to have an account created for you and accept the invite. Alternatively, click Decline invitation and remove my data from RingCentral.

Declining a Magic Link invitation

To decline a Magic Link invite and stop receiving further event-related emails:

  1. Click the unsubscribe link in the email footer.
  2. On the Unsubscribe page, click Decline invitation.
✔ Your invite will be marked as declined for the event host and you will be unsubscribed from further event emails.

  3. On the Confirmation page, you can click Resubscribe to start receiving further event emails.
✔ Your invite will be marked as pending for the event host and you will come back to the previous page
to be able to decline or accept the invitation.

Note: Magic Link invites are very flexible to satisfy different user needs and scenarios. You can always change your mind to accept or decline the invite.

  • If you have initially accepted the Magic Link invite, you can still decline the invite and unsubscribe from event emails. Find your Magic Link invitation email and click on the unsubscribe link in the email footer as described above.
  • If you have initially declined the Magic Link invite, you can still accept the invite and register for the event. Find your Magic Link invitation email and click Login & Join Event or Verify Registration.
