If you're experiencing issues with audio, video, microphone, or camera when attending an event via the RingCentral Events Attendee mobile app, follow these steps to resolve the problem on an Android device.
Troubleshooting audio issues
Check device volume: Ensure your device volume is turned up using the physical volume buttons on the side of your device. For detailed steps, refer to Google Help Center.
Note: When adjusting volume, note that the type of volume that changes (e.g., media, ring) depends on your current activity. For watching broadcasts in the RingCentral Events app, you will need to adjust the Media volume.
Wireless headphones: If using Bluetooth headphones or a headset, confirm they are properly connected and that the batteries are charged.
Tip: If your device is paired with multiple Bluetooth devices, you can select the desired output under Media volume by tapping Play media to. These instructions may vary depending on your Android version and device model.
Troubleshooting video issues
Check internet connection: Poor video playback is often due to a weak internet connection. Use a strong WiFi connection instead of relying on slower 3G/4G networks. 5G should work fine, but avoid using free WiFi hotspots in public places, as these are often crowded and slow.
Connectivity settings: Issues may also arise from blocked TCP/UDP ports, especially if you're on a corporate network or behind a firewall. To learn more, refer to our guide on Network connectivity settings.
Troubleshooting microphone and camera issues
When going on screen in a Session or Expo Booth, the RingCentral Events Attendee app needs access to your device’s camera and microphone. You should be automatically prompted to grant these permissions. Tap While using the app or Only this time to allow the app to take pictures, and record video and audio.
If you weren’t prompted, you may need to enable permissions manually:
- Close the RingCentral Events app and locate the RingCentral Events app icon on your device.
- Tap and hold on the RingCentral Events app icon to reveal the options menu. Select App info.
- Under Privacy > Permissions, ensure Camera and Microphone are allowed. Both are necessary for the app to function correctly.
- If under Privacy > Permissions, you see No permissions allowed, tap Permissions to grant access to the camera and microphone.
- In the App permissions, tap Camera and select Allow only while using the app or Ask every time. Do the same for the Microphone.
- Once the settings are updated, relaunch the RingCentral Events app and try again.
