Using RingCentral Events Attendee app

  • Updated

RingCentral Events Attendee app (available on iOS and Android) is a free mobile application designed for attendees to attend and watch events hosted on RingCentral Events. This guide explains the app limitations, how to access the event in the app, navigate around the event, and change your attendance mode.

Note: We recommend iOS/iPadOS version 14 or higher and Android version 10 or higher for the best compatibility with the RingCentral Events Mobile App.

RingCentral Events Attendee app limitations

The Attendee app provides limited functionality. If possible, always use a desktop device to enjoy the full RingCentral Events experience and functionality. The app limitations include:

  • Registering via event landing page: You cannot register for events within the app. You will still have to access the event landing page in a browser to get a ticket. Only events you have already registered for will be listed in the app.
  • On-screen participation: Joining a screen is only possible in a Session room or in an Expo Booth (set up as a Session). It isn't possible to join the Backstage studio via the app.
  • Screen sharing: You cannot screen share when joining a screen in the app.
  • YouTube integration: YouTube videos shared in a Session room via direct integration will not be visible.
  • RTMP streams: Unscheduled RTMP streams to Stages or Session will not be displayed. Ensure that your RTMP stream is always added to the schedule.
  • Replay and Networking: You cannot access Replay and Networking areas in the app.
Note: Schedule segments linked to the Replay area won't be visible in the app. However, segments linked to Networking will be displayed and will redirect to the Networking page in a mobile browser.
  • Schedule: If multiple Session rooms or Expo Booths are added to one schedule item, only the first one will display in the app.
  • Dark mode: When you're using a dark mode on your mobile device, it will not be supported by the RingCentral Events app.
Note: If you're using a developer mode forcing all the apps to switch to the dark mode on Android, you may need to switch it off to avoid design issues in the app.

Signing in to the Attendee app

Upon first use, you will be prompted to sign in to your RingCentral Events account. Once signed in, you will see the list of all upcoming events you are registered for. Tap an event to access it.

Accessing an event via Magic Link

Your registration confirmation email and most of the automated event emails contain your personalized Magic Link. The Magic Link acts as an "access pass" into the event. It bypasses the need for the registered users to sign in to RingCentral Events and brings you directly into your RingCentral Events account and into the event.

Install the app and click on the link on your mobile device. The Magic Link will automatically open the RingCentral Events app and take you to the event's home page, without having to sign in to your account.

To access other events you have registered for, you will need to sign out and sign in with an email and password as explained above.

Event home page overview

When accessing an event in the app, you will land on the event home page. From here, you are able to get anywhere within the event:

  1. Profile settings: Edit your profile, change your attendance mode, view your QR code (applies to hybrid and onsite ticket holders), prevent others from sending you direct messages and 1:1 meeting invites, and exit the event.
  2. Notifications: Access your notifications.
  3. Messages: Access your direct messages.
  4. Event activities: Access the event-wide Chat, Polls, Q&A and the People tab (if enabled).
  5. Details: Review the event description and additional information.
  6. Home: Return to the event’s home page when navigating around the event.
  7. Schedule: View the event schedule, including My Agenda with your selected segments and 1:1 meetings.
  8. Explore: Quick access to all event areas like Stage, Sessions, Expo, Speakers, and Floor Plans.

In-person vs virtual attendee mode

If you're attending a hybrid event and registered under a hybrid ticket, you will be prompted to choose your attendance mode when entering the event for the first time in the app:

  • I'm an In-person attendee: You can have access to all the event details, but no live streaming will be shown in the app. Only Chat, Polls, Q&A will stay available in Stages and Sessions area.
  • I'm a virtual attendee: You can enjoy uninterrupted live streaming alongside all the interactive features.

If your plans change, you can change the attendance type in your profile settings.
