Here you will find the list of frequently asked questions about Speed Networking. Check out our guides Setting up Networking area and Speed Networking tutorial to learn more about how it works.

What is Speed Networking and how does it work?

Speed Networking functionality is a part of the Networking area. It enables short, automated 1:1 meetings, creating a personal and fun way for attendees to connect.

In the Networking area, under Speed Networking, click Join now. You will be randomly paired with someone else who has also clicked Join now in the 1:1 video chat. The meeting lasts for a preset amount of time, can be extended and allows participants to exchange their contact details.

You can disable Speed Networking in Event Dashboard > Venue > Networking or disable the Networking area completely in Event Dashboard > Setup > Basics.

How many times can an attendee be paired in Speed Networking during an event?

As long as Speed Networking is enabled for your event, attendees are able to pair with others as many times as possible during the event. However, the same attendees can be matched together just once.

Can you meet the same person twice in Speed Networking?

No. The system won't allow you to meet with the same person twice. To connect with the same person, you can search for their name in the People tab within the event and schedule a meeting.

Can I add Networking to the schedule?

Yes, you can! To be able to add Networking to your schedule, you will need to enable the Networking area in Event Dashboard > Setup > Basics and Speed Networking in Event Dashboard > Venue > Networking.

How do you network with specific people?

Speed Networking is random, so attendees are not able to pick who they are paired with. However, you can configure ticket matching. Follow our Speed Networking tutorial for detailed steps on how to do it.

Alternatively, attendees can have 1:1 meetings with each other. For more info on 1:1 meetings, check our guide on Enabling 1:1 video meetings for attendees.

I would like to set up Speed Networking by ticket type. Is this possible?

Yes! While setting up Speed Networking for your event, you can configure ticket matching. Follow our Speed Networking tutorial for detailed steps on how to do it.

How long does one Speed Networking meeting last?

The default duration for one meeting is 30 seconds as the minimum and 3 minutes as the maximum. However, you can customize the minimum and maximum meeting length limits while setting up the networking segment. Follow our Speed Networking tutorial for detailed steps on how to do it.

What if I want to extend the meeting, can I do that?

Absolutely! Participants are able to extend the meeting by clicking Extend. This option becomes available when the meeting is approaching its end. The extended time is determined by the maximum meeting length configured in the Networking settings. The networking meeting can be extended by the participants an unlimited number of times.

Are attendees able to use networking at any time during the event?

As long as the Speed Networking option is enabled for your event, attendees are able to access it at any time.

What if I want to restrict when people use Speed Networking during the event? Is this possible?

The best way to handle this is to disable Speed Networking and then enable it back during the time you’d like your attendees to access it.

You can also create a schedule segment with the Networking segment. When a segment is live, it will be highlighted in the schedule and added to the What’s happening now area on the Reception page. Additionally, currently scheduled areas of your event are marked with the red LIVE tag.

Can only the Networking area be used during an event?

Absolutely! You will just need to disable the other event areas in Event Dashboard > Setup > Basics. Ensure the Networking area stays enabled and that Speed Networking is turned on in your Event Dashboard > Venue > Networking.

You can do this anytime before or during the event. Attendees will need to do a quick refresh if the area is enabled/disabled during the event.
