Screenshare: Sharing audio from any third-party app

  • Updated

When screen sharing a video or playing music, you may notice that browsers do not support sharing audio from a window. This guide provides tips on using third-party apps to share your device audio.

Tip: You can share browser tabs with audio in Google Chrome.

For Windows users: Voicemeeter

Voicemeeter is a third-party audio mixer application used as Virtual I/O to mix and manage any audio sources from or to any audio devices or applications. With its help, you can mix your microphone and system/video app sound and select it as your audio source in the Audio/Video settings when joining the screen.

For Mac users: Loopback

Loopback is another third-party app that works similarly to Voicemeeter. With its help, you can combine your microphone and system/video app sound and select it as your audio source in the Audio/Video settings when joining the screen.

RTMP streaming

Finally, you can use RTMP to stream from a third-party source supporting streaming both live content and pre-recorded videos/music. To learn more about setting up an RTMP stream, refer to our guides on Streaming from OBS to Stage via RTMP and Streaming from OBS to Session via RTMP.
