Studio: Adding overlays

  • Updated

Placing a custom image on the screen as an overlay is a great way to share additional information or add unique branding to your stream. This guide explains how to add overlays in the RingCentral Events Studio.

Important notes:

  • You can create and add multiple overlay images.
  • You can bring multiple overlays to the screen at once.
  • Overlays are also displayed when the stage is empty and not yet live. You can bring an image to the screen before going live or during breaks for additional information or branding purposes.
  • Added overlays will stay in the Studio even if you restart your device. Feel free to leave and come back anytime to continue working on your content.

Creating an overlay

To upload an image to be used as an overlay in the Studio:

  1. Go to the Stage tab in the Studio panel.
  2. Click Present anything.

  3. Go to the Overlays tab.

  4. Enter the overlay name (internal).
  5. Drag and drop your image file or click the Plus icon + to select a file from your desktop.
    • Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF
    • Maximum file size: 10MB
  6. Review how your image file is displayed on the screen.
Note: It's not visible to other Moderators or to your audience at this point.
  7. On the panel, you can use the arrows to change the alignment of your image.
  8. On the screen, you can drag the image corners to change its size and drag the image itself to move it around.
  9. Once ready, click Add Overlay.
✔ You will be brought back to the Studio panel where the uploaded overlay will be listed.

Managing an overlay

To display an overlay on the screen, in the Stage tab, hover over the image tile and click Bring to screen.

Once the overlay is brought to the screen, you can hover over its content tile on the screen and click Enter edit mode. This will allow you to quickly resize the image and move it around.

To change the internal overlay name or remove it from the Studio, hover over the banner tile, click the Menu icon, and click Remove from studio or Rename.

Note: After getting removed from Studio, the uploaded images can be still found under Previous Uploads and added back.
